Hey Everybody!
Today’s Social Media Tip is about what to post. One of the most intimidating aspects of social media is figuring out what in the world to post every day.
You may wonder, “Do people want to see the homes I am listing?” Or, “How often should I post?”
Great questions!
The simplest way to think about what to post on social media is to picture yourself at a dinner party with 8-10 people.
This is the “Dinner Party Theory.”
Wouldn’t it be awkward if you were at a friend’s house and clinked your wine glass to make a 20-minute toast about all of the homes you sold that year? Of course it would be!
You’d never be invited back!
Well, that is the social media equivalent of what most real estate agents do: they get online once a month and post 20 pictures in a row of past sales.
No one wants to see that!
On the other side of the spectrum, wouldn’t it be odd if you NEVER mentioned what you did for a living to your friends? You’d be a real “secret agent.”
The solution is to vary your posts so your sphere gets a holistic look into your life. This allows people to resonate with you on multiple levels.
Why do you want people to resonate with you on multiple levels?
A real estate coach once told me that people list their homes with those whom they trust to hold their baby.
Social media allows you to be that person to your sphere. Go, be that person!
